The movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire had its world premiere in New York City on March 14, 2024, and was released by Sony Pictures Releasing on March 22, 2024. It was previously scheduled to be released on December 20, 2023, but was delayed to March 29, 2024, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, before being moved up a week to March 22.
The film continues the story where Ghostbusters: Afterlife left off. The Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.
The movie stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Patton Oswalt, Logan Kim, Celeste O'Connor, and others in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Gil Kenan, who takes over directing duties from Jason Reitman, son of the late Ivan Reitman, director of the original 1984 Ghostbusters.The runtime of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is 1 hour and 49 minutes.
