"Sex and the City" (advertised as Sex and the City: The Movie) is a 2008 American romantic comedy film written and directed by Michael Patrick King in his feature film directorial debut. It is a continuation of the 1998-2004 television series about four friends, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and their lives in New York City.

The film was released on DVD on September 23, 2008. It also spawned a sequel, "Sex and the City 2," which was released in May 2010

The film follows the story of a New York City writer on sex and love, Carrie Bradshaw, who is finally getting married to her Mr. Big. However, her three best girlfriends must console her after one of them inadvertently leads Mr. Big to jilt her.

The film features two soundtracks. "Sex and the City: Volume 2" was released on September 23, 2008, coinciding with the film's DVD release, and it includes tracks from British singers Estelle, Craig David, Mutya Buena, Amy Winehouse, Janet Jackson, Ciara, and Elijah Kelley. Additionally, the orchestral score for the film, "Sex And The City - The Score," was released in December 2008, containing 18 tracks of original score composed, co-orchestrated, and conducted by Aaron Zigman.
